Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026 (version 1)

Your home, your absence dates, and your identity are sensitive. This policy explains what we collect, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It is written to comply with the Israeli Privacy Protection Law, 5741-1981.

1. What we collect

Account data: name, email, password (hashed), optional display name, photo, phone number and social links. Listing data: home description, city and neighborhood, pet details, photos, absence dates, and — privately — the exact address, contact phone and handover notes. Sitter data: profile content, photos, availability, and for verification — phone, reference contacts and an optional ID document. Activity data: applications, invitations, messages, reviews and reports.

2. How we use it

To operate the marketplace: showing listings and profiles, matching owners and sitters, enabling messaging and reviews, vetting and verification, moderation and safety, and (in the future) service emails about your own activity. We do not sell personal data and we do not use your content for advertising.

3. Addresses & absence dates

Your exact address, contact details and handover notes are never public. They are visible to our staff for vetting, and are revealed only to the one sitter you confirm — at the moment you confirm them. Public listings show only the city/neighborhood and the date range at the precision you chose. Reveal timestamps are recorded.

4. ID documents

An ID document uploaded for verification is stored in a private area readable by staff only, is used solely to verify your identity, and is permanently deleted as soon as the verification decision is made. We keep only the resulting verification level.

5. Sharing & processors

We share personal data only as described here: with the counterpart of a confirmed match (the reciprocal reveal), with our infrastructure providers acting as processors (Supabase — database, authentication and file storage; Vercel — hosting), and where the law requires. We never sell or rent personal data.

6. Cookies & analytics

We use essential cookies for sign-in, security and display preferences — these are required for the site to work. An anonymous analytics tool (PostHog, hosted in the EU) loads only after you approve it in the cookie banner; it identifies members by an internal ID only — never by name, email or address. You can change your choice at any time via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the site. Error monitoring (Sentry) runs without identifying details.

7. Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account from account settings: your profile is anonymized, your photos, listings, pending applications and sitter profile are deleted, and your login is removed. Reviews and messages persist in anonymized form to preserve other members' history. ID documents are deleted at verification time as described above.

8. Your rights

Under the Israeli Privacy Protection Law you may review the information we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate information, and request deletion. Most of this is self-serve from your account; for anything else, contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.

9. Contact

Privacy questions or requests: email us at sitsababa@gmail.com, or contact us via the "Report a problem" page and mention "privacy" — the operator team handles these directly.
